So I’ve had a love/hate relationship with running since I was in middle school. I was never the fastest, but I could always push myself to get through a workout. I started to fall more in love with running and fitness when I joined my high school crew team. Talk about dedication and serious workouts. From 4pm to 6pm we endured timed runs, circuit training, rowing intervals…but also lots and lots of fun. Being on a rowing team was truly the best time!
Then fast forward a few more years and I’ve had my ups and downs with health and fitness, but running has always been a positive outlet for me. Like they always say, “Running, Cheaper than therapy”. I love endorphins and how I feel after a good sweat. Running is definitely my go to workout whether it’s on the treadmill or outside.
When starting up a workout routine I always begin building up my endurance. My go to motivator is my Run 5k App and I’m currently on my fourth week of running since Brinlee was born. I can tell I’m building up and getting stronger which makes me push even harder. Also, I have another motivator that will be coming up next year. My running challenge.
I’ve decided to run in one race every month in 2017! Most of the races will be 5ks, but perhaps I’ll be daring at some point and sign up for a 10k or 15k. My ultimate goal is to finish a half marathon one of these days, but for now I’ll stick to the shorter races.
Currently I am signed up for a race in January, February, June, July, August, and September! I’m so excited! The interval training on the treadmill has been helpful and I hope to gain more endurance and get faster by the time January comes around.
