When I was pregnant with Mason I never worked out (with the exception of some outdoor walks around the neighborhood). I also ate whatever I wanted, which mainly included carbs and salty foods. I ended up having a healthy pregnancy, gained 41 pounds and the end result was a healthy happy Mason weighing in at 9lb 10oz!
This second pregnancy is relatively the same; however I have not deprived myself of some cooked lunch meat and ranch dressing. The first time around I avoided everything people said was bad, but I’m enjoying this pregnancy with no regrets. However, the pounds have slowly caught up with me and I’m pretty sure it’s a result of my sweet intake. My diet while pregnant is basically ‘enjoy it while you can’ because once Brinlee gets here it’s go time!
Is it wrong that I’m starting to get antsy about wanting to get back into shape? I was on such a roll after Mason was born and I’m beginning to feel that same motivation. Must be because I’ll be at my heaviest during this pregnancy while everyone else is bikini ready, ha!
My starting weight with my first pregnancy was 187. Then add 41 pounds and 228 snuck up real quick! After Mason was out, I was in the low 200s. I remember my first before picture I was 2 weeks postpartum and weighed 205. After a year of eating healthy and working out I got down to 174. I was wearing my size 10 jeans again and felt great about my weight loss…then pregnancy #2 arrived. Everything was planned and I figured if I could do it the first time around, then the second journey will be just as rewarding.
My biggest motivation to be healthy is for my children and to introduce healthy habits to them at a young age. I love that my husband and I are on the same page with this. I get excited for the day Mark can bring Mason to the gym and they have their male bonding time. And then Brinlee and I can go for runs.
In the meantime, I’m going to enjoy the rest of this pregnancy with my occasional sweet tooth. Hopefully I’ll get around to more neighborhood walks too! Wish me luck because these passed few weeks of being pregnant have been a doozy.
