While Mark’s mother is visiting his sister in Colorado, we have a fun filled weekend planned with Mark’s father. Today Daddy Glenn, Mason and I set out on an adventure to Leu Gardens! Mark and I used to live just five minutes away from this location and never planned a day to check it out. After today, I am so bummed we never did because it is one of the prettiest gardens I’ve ever seen. It was seriously a museum of plants everywhere you looked!

Since my father-in-law is a horticulturalist and an encyclopedia of plants, I thought this would be a perfect place to visit on this beautiful Friday morning. It sure was! Daddy Glenn used to visit these gardens while working at an internship when he was younger, but has not been back since. It was neat to see him in his element.

Mason was also taking in his surroundings and picking up all the leaves he could carry. He was such a happy boy today and enjoyed his new stroller! BTW…I’m in LOVE with this new stroller! It’s perfect for Mason and exactly what we need, especially since Brinlee will be taking over Mason’s previous one. We went back and forth deciding on registering for a double stroller or a nice umbrella one. I’m so happy with our decision to register for the umbrella stroller. We just got it yesterday and today was the first time we tested out its perfection.

I highly recommend visiting Leu Gardens, but I think I’ll definitely wait until it gets a little cooler to revisit. Today was the hottest day of the summer and waddling around 32 weeks pregnant took a toll on my perspiration. I wasn’t uncomfortable or sore or in pain, but the humidity made me melt like an ice cream cone in a hot oven. Luckily more than half of the gardens are shaded, so that helped out a lot.

After we finished up at the gardens we headed over to meet Mark for lunch. Mason passed out in the car immediately and enjoyed his half hour nap on the road. The rest of the afternoon included a trip to Home Depot, Daddy Glenn helping with some projects around the house, Mason and I watching a movie, pizza for dinner, then a jump in the pool. I’m sure we’re all gonna sleep well tonight.
