It’s so good to be home, but we are so thankful for spending some quality time with Mark’s parents. First the beach, then some relaxation and enjoyed a nice festive lunch before we got back on the road. By the way…I must remember to write down all the recipes Mark’s parents cooked up for us. Talk about being well fed! All time favorite dessert now is their homemade blueberry cobbler. Might need to whip that up again REAL soon!

So off we went on our three-hour road trip back home. Mason and I had a great nap and Mark kept humming to some tunes on the radio to entertain himself while driving. There was nothing better than to pull into our driveway and get out for a nice stretch. Home! Not too long after though we were back in the car to head over to Mason’s swim lesson…commence Week 4! He’s doing awesome! Can’t wait to see his grand finale, hopefully in just a couple more weeks.

The rest of the day was spent watching a movie, eating pizza, playing outside, and FIREWORKS! Every year our neighbor puts on a show that we can sit and watch from our front porch. Mason loved watching the sparks last year when he was just 7 months old. He admired and clapped his hands with so much joy!

This year…we jumped in the pool and got to see some fireworks from a nearby neighborhood. There were some good ones tonight! Unfortunately it didn’t get dark until near 9pm…aka passed Mason’s bedtime. He was able to see some sparks tonight and enjoyed each one, but then our cranky toddler made his appearance. Mark and I ended up tucking our angel in bed, then went back outside to watch our neighborhood light up. The fireworks were coming from all directions!

This was such a wonderful holiday weekend! I hope everyone had a safe and fun July Fourth! God Bless America!

God Bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.
